My name is Laura and I am a 24 year-old law student currently living in Boston by way of New York. There is so much to say but I will try to keep this simple: I love to read, write, photograph and cook, and I deeply value self-reflection – and what better way to incorporate all of the mediums that bring me joy than through a blog? I try to post here as frequently as possible because the act of creating brings me gratification; and as Elizabeth Gilbert said, “A creative life is an amplified life. It’s a bigger life, a happier life, an expanded life, and a hell of a lot more interesting life. Living in this manner – continually and stubbornly bringing forth the jewels that are hidden within you – is a fine art, in and of itself.”
So I am not a professionally trained writer, nor photographer, nor chef, nor therapist, but I am here tilling the soil of my life and cataloguing it in this space because it brings me joy, even if no one is watching. I am a self-improvement junkie, a list-maker, and a recovering perfectionist. I get more pleasure from wrapping gifts and buying quality paper stock than I probably should. I am a collection of thoughts, opinions, and viewpoints – some of which are set in stone and some of which rearrange themselves on a daily basis. In short: I am human.
I believe that words have power and that it is our job here on Earth to be forever expanding, evolving, shedding old skin, and breaking new ground. I believe that transformation awaits us each time we wander off of the well-trodden roads of our lives, whether it be through something simple like reading a book, or more complex like saying ‘yes’ to something that scares us and forces us to really show up in our lives. This is where the richness of life lies – in the moments where our perceptions shift and we feel most ripened for change. This is what I like to read and write about, and constitutes much of the motivation behind my blog.
Thank you for stopping by!
